The K-Security Alliance, a Korean-style security coalition launched this
summer, held the ‘Blockchain-Security Alliance Collaboration Day’ event
on the 18th at El Tower in Yangjae, Seoul. This event was co-hosted with ‘ABLE,’
a blockchain demand-supply consultative body, to share the results of their
collaborative efforts so far.

Best Award, and LG Uplus received the Grand Prize.)
Earlier in June, the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the Korea
Internet & Security Agency (KISA) announced the launch of the K-Security
Alliance. Unlike traditional government-led initiatives, this alliance is
driven by the private sector to identify and address obstacles to security
collaboration. Through this initiative, the MSIT aims to foster a culture of
cooperation among security companies, develop integrated security models, and
strategically enter emerging security markets such as the Middle East and
Southeast Asia.

Highlights of the ‘Blockchain-Security Alliance Collaboration Day’
The K-Security Alliance session
during the event consisted of three main segments:
- Award Ceremony for Collaboration Cases
- Acceptance Speeches by Award Recipients
- Presentation of Integrated Security Model Development
Achievements
In the Collaboration Case Idea Contest,
three companies—LG Uplus, Logpresso, and Igloo Corporation—were
recognized for their outstanding ideas.
- The Excellence Award (KISA Director’s Award) went to Igloo
Corporation.
- The Best Award (MSIT Minister’s Award) was given to Logpresso.
- The Grand Prize (MSIT Minister’s Award) was awarded to LG
Uplus.
Following the awards, a presentation
session on integrated security model development took place.
Security Layer’s API-Based Threat
Analysis
Security Layer’s Manager Lee Dong-beom
explained:
"Through this integrated security
project, our team developed and managed a RESTful API framework. Additionally,
we implemented a comprehensive search function, enabling real-time threat
analysis and response."
Security Layer has also collaborated with Genians,
SecuVista, and Enki Whitehat to expand its partnerships beyond security
firms and build an OPEN XDR platform to revolutionize Security
Operations (SecOps). The company structured its real-time threat
response process into eight stages, optimizing network event-based
threat detection and response. Their dashboard supports data
modification, periodic data attribute management, real-time monitoring of log
status, and equipment health tracking.
Lee added:
"Beyond our initial four-company
collaboration, we plan to expand the alliance, strengthening the security
ecosystem and enhancing cooperation among companies. Our goal is to integrate
security solutions, improve threat response capabilities and operational
efficiency, and develop a phased strategy to establish our integrated security
platform in the global market."
EdgeDX’s AI-Powered Physical Security
Platform
EdgeDX CEO Park Dong-wook presented their development of an AI-based integrated physical
security platform for managing unmanned facilities and transport systems.
He highlighted existing challenges in Korea’s physical security sector:
- Large enterprises have closed integration policies,
limiting their security systems to a few selected OEM manufacturers.
- SME solutions rely on standalone AI cameras and access
control devices, making it difficult to provide a unified user
experience (UX), reducing their competitiveness.
Park explained that EdgeDX, along with Suprema
and WebGate, led a collaborative project aimed at overcoming these
challenges. Their solution integrates biometric-based access control with
AI-driven video analysis, allowing for:
- Real-time event correlation between access control and video
analytics
- Automated storage and retrieval of event-triggered footage for rapid response
For future expansions, Park noted:
"KISA’s support for a standardized
protocol for physical security integration will enable IoT sensors and
actuators to be linked to our system. We will maximize the use of ONVIF and
KISA’s integrated platform APIs to enhance compatibility with domestic security
manufacturers, contributing to the development of a diverse range of integrated
security services."

EST Security’s Zero Trust-Based Endpoint Security
EST Security Director Hwang Sang-bok introduced their ‘Zero Trust-Based Endpoint Security Platform’,
emphasizing compliance with the seven principles of Zero Trust to
proactively counter cyber threats. The project’s final product was a Zero
Trust-integrated security platform, capable of:
- Real-time risk assessment
- Network access control
- Endpoint security enforcement
Through internal testing, the EST Security
consortium achieved significant results:
- Out of 11,314 total security events,
- 8,840 were handled through Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA)
- 854 involved endpoint security enforcement
The final product was also showcased at ISEC
2024, demonstrating its effectiveness in integrating multiple security
solutions. Looking ahead, Hwang stated:
"Our consortium—including EST
Security, SecureLink, and KAIST Cyber Security Research Institute—will continue
refining our global market expansion strategy. We plan to introduce cloud
services, establish a global presence, and enhance integrated maintenance
frameworks for our platform."

KISA’s Commitment to Strengthening Integrated Security
Finally, KISA’s Security Industry
Promotion Team Senior Manager Noh Yong-hwan highlighted the growing demand
for integrated security solutions due to the increasing complexity of
security threats. He noted that major global enterprises are rapidly gaining
market dominance through mergers, acquisitions, and technology partnerships,
reinforcing the need for collaborative security strategies.
By November, the K-Security Alliance
had attracted 115 participating companies, aiming to enhance the
efficiency of integrated security operations and bolster Korea’s global
competitiveness.
Noh outlined key accomplishments of the
alliance in 2024:
- 1 Letter of Intent (LOI) signed for security solution adoption
- 2 security certifications obtained
- 3 intellectual property applications filed
- 1 company supported in obtaining a technology-specialized stock
listing evaluation
- 3 companies received patent strategy consulting
- 16 companies participated in pre-consulting and IR demo days
He concluded by emphasizing KISA’s ongoing
commitment:
"We will continue to support the
K-Security Alliance as a driving force for fostering security collaboration and
accelerating innovation in the security industry."
